Yolo Wayfarer Center
Emergency Shelter. Showers, laundry, mail, and referrals for assistance are available between 1-3 PM Monday - Friday. A dinner meal is served every evening at 5 PM and is open to everyone. The overnight shelter opens at 6 PM. All guests must be free of drugs and alcohol to stay. The shelter offers a men's dorm with 14 beds, a women's dorm with 14 beds, and the family space which can accommodate up to 22 family members. Walter's House, (located at 285 Fourth Street) the Residential Substance Abuse Treatment and Transitional Housing Center for Men and Women, was established to help individuals exchange homelessness and addiction for a life full of hope and a future pressing on toward the goal. The family shelter program houses homeless families in housing units throughout the community as they gain skills to end the cycle of homelessness. Our current sites provide: 10 apartments, 4 three-bedroom duplexes, and a 5-bedroom women?s house. Support services, case management, and life skills assist our families in becoming stable. Required orientations are held every Tuesday at 9:00 AM sharp. Life skills classes follow from 9:30 - 10:30 AM at the United Methodist Church: 212 Second St, Woodland. Child care is provided.
